The Owner Says

Ronnie  is our wonderfully converted railway carriage – once used to transport livestock, the carriage has been lovingly converted by ourselves and our expert maker and fixer friends – handcrafted right here on the campsite

Our carriage sits proud just above the camping field, with its own private decking area, complete with a bbq and fire pit: perfect for enjoying sunset views over the Lyme tree avenue and campsite.

It comfortably sleeps a family of 4 with 1 kingsize  bed and 2 x quirky single (child size) nook beds. The carriage has mains electricity/ water and a kitchen area – comprising, kettle, hob, fridge and all the kit for a family cook up. Just arrive with your clothes and towels, a good book and a spring in your step

On cooler evenings snuggle up by the log burning stove, on sunny days throw open the doors and bring the outside in, or dine al fresco

What you need to know:

·         Sleeps up to 4 people – 1 king-size bed (bedding provided) and 2 quirky single nook beds (for children up to the age of 14 - bedding provided)

·         Kitchen area with running water, sink, induction hob, stove top kettle, pots, pans and crockery provided (full kit list availible on our website)

·         Log burning stove with 1 basket of logs and kindling etc provided (extra available on site)

          stowaway dining table inside and cable reel table outside with interchangeable chairs

·         Electric provided, electric lighting

·         Use of main campsite toilet/shower facilities – approx. 10 second walk!

·         Firepit/bbq and hammock for your use outside

Towels are not provided for this accomodation

Suitable For

Campervans (max 6.5m)  are welcome in our lower meadow on our grassy pitches to camp among tents also, our upper meadow is for tents only and is vehicle free for you to enjoy the site without cars (dedicated parking provide). Our glamping options are around the upper meadow - check out our site map for details.

 Your friendly pooches are always welcome to site, just add your furry friend to your booking - there are some great sniff spots and walking trails to enjoy. If you can arrive to site by cycle - we are right on national cycle route 1 we are happy to offer you a cyclists discount!

We welcome all guests of all ages to site, well behaved grandparents, your newbies, old and friends and new friends alike to site - we cant wait to meet you!  school leavers and groups are welcome - we do ask you contact us with your requirements before booking. We have a countryside camping code for all - a camping or glamping break of a quiet countryside nature is the order of the day here at Whitlingham

We are surronded by 80 acres of gorgeous country park within the Coleman estate - there are walking trails a plenty - we are in the Bodicca way and  Wherryman's Man way footpaths plus national Cycle Route One path. Whitlingham Adventure just a 3 minute walk away from site offers plenty of broad-based aquatic activities including canoeing, dragon boat hire, sailing, windsurfing. You can hire hand made canoes from Thorpe Island boats and paddle through the city, Self drive boats from Bishy barnebees, paddles boards from Norwich Paddleboard hire for water based activities. Borrow a Beryl bike from the park or head out on foot.

The Broads will be your back garden for your stay with us - you can hit the beach within 20 minutes, explore mashes and nature reserves or check out the tourist attractions such as BeWILDerwood, Wroxham, Or Great Yarmouth for seaside fun and world class circus. A must see is a trip to Winterton on Sea or Sea Palling so see our seal colonys

Norwich has attractions galore as well plenty of places to eat and drink. A vibrant and arty city - you can wander the lanes for independent shopping, catch an arthouse movie or theatre production akin to the west end, drink a rooftop cocktail or storm the castle for your fill of local history - birdwatches may be intrested to see the resident Pergrine Falcon in the catherdral tower


Food & Drink

There’s a café inside the Whitlingham Broad Visitor Centre (01603 617332) and there’s a good vegan restaurant, River Green Café (01603 622448), at the entrance to Whitlingham Lane. Norwich is a treasure trove for small bars and cafés. We particularly recommend Frank’s Bar (01603 618902) for relaxed Mediterranean-accented dining, Wild Thyme (01603 765562) for vegetarian food and St Andrews Brew House (01603 305995) for a pint.
