The Owner Says

At the top end of a long, grassy meadow where over one thousand young trees have been planted, you’ll find an open area of grass mowed flat and set aside for small campervans.

Although during events and microfestivals over twenty vans have happily schnuggled into this space, in normal campsite mode we only open this space up to five vans, so you’ll have plenty of space between your pitch and others.

Our van pitches are basic, just off-grid grass sites for vans and vehicles with roof tents. The van sites don't have electric hook-up, toilet pump-out or dedicated water points fill-up, although you can fill up smaller containers at our camping tap a short walk away. There’s an eco loo right by the campervan area.

As access is tight along a track sided with overhanging trees, we’re sorry not to be able to take any vehicles longer than 6m or higher than 2m, so no motorhomes or caravans.

Please note:

Tree planting: Our van pitches are in what is currently our tree planting meadow - so there are hundreds of plastic tubes in the meadow - these each create a lovely little eco system for our newly planted saplings and protect them from animals, but we're very conscious that parking up in a field of plastic tubes may not be what you're looking for, although some people love that they're hanging out in what will one day be a woodland. (See pictures for what the field looks like)

Poor weather: As our pitches are grass if the weather has been overly wet (especially during Spring) we may well find you a spot elsewhere on site, just to make sure you don't get stuck!

If you’re looking for a place for a group of vans, we have held rallies and availability-permitting can hire out our whole site, or just the campervan area. Please enquire about this.

We'll do everything we can to make your stay at Big Sky as enjoyable and comfortable as possible. We love surprising our guests and making your stay unique so if you have any ideas we might be able to help with don't hesitate to ask :)

About Big Sky Hideaway

Suitable For

Our whole site is based around guests having plenty of space to enjoy their time in nature. All of our power is created by renewables (mostly solar) and we've re-wilded several of the 14 acres, including long grass in between camping pitches, and we've also planted over 1000 trees too.

While our camping meadow is vehicle-free we have big wheelbarrows for folks bringing their own tents. Most of our glamping pods, huts or buses have their own parking to save you a walk. Pitches and paths are mowed into a meadow of long grass and young trees.

We have a campervan meadow with grass pitches and no hook-up. It's basic but over 300 campervans have visited and all we've seen is smiles! Access is quite tight so we're afraid that we're unable to take caravans, large motorhomes or any vehicle over 2 metres 10cm in height. We'll always do our best to make a stay possible so if you're unsure about your vehicle size and whether it will make it to our campervan meadow please get in touch.

However much we love animals (we have alpacas on site and our hens roam the place looking for hugs!) we're afraid guests can't bring pets to Big Sky. Our alpacas are scaredy cats and at any given time they're either pregnant or with young. They get spooked by strange dogs, however well behaved they might be. And hundreds of ground-dwelling birds nest in the long grasses around our camping, glamping and campervan pitches, and they're not a fan of dogs either.

Nearby

Big Sky is out in the countryside west of Boston, Lincolnshire. The land is flat and the skies are vast, so you'll need a car for easy access to local attractions. Many of our guests head to the coast north of Skegness for a day trip, the ARK Wildlife park is nearby and a hit for kids, or take a 45 minute stroll along quiet roads to the nearby River Witham.

Food & Drink

Boston is a 10-minute drive away and a couple of local pubs are closer. The Station Cafe is a five minute drive away for a hearty greasy spoon breakfast, and the Malcolm Arms in Anton's Gowt is popular for a simple pub lunch.
