The Cabin (2 at Dernwood Farm Camping & Glamping)
UK England South East England East Sussex Heathfield Dernwood Farm Camping & Glamping
The Owner Says
The sitting room end has a comfy double leather sofa bed with red velvet curtains you can pull across making another cosy bedroom. The bedroom has a triple sleeper (double bed at the bottom, single on top) so that if you’re travelling as a family you can put the kids to bed and have a bit of adult time at the end of the evening. If you’re a couple it means you have a separate room and won’t have to use the sofa bed. For cooking there is a gas oven with a hob plus you can get a pan on top of the wood burner. The door from the living room goes out onto the covered deck with armchairs and a fire brazier, so you can sit round the fire even if the weather is not on your side!
The wood burner inside makes the whole space really warm and cosy all year. The Cabin is fully equipped for five people; pots, pans, enamel plates etc, cutlery and proper wine glasses! There is also a large cool box which I will give you ice packs for on your arrival.
The outside space is why you’re really here; within the clearing is a fire pit surrounded by oak seats and table with a grill and tripod and dutch oven. Nestled into the hazel coppice is the large wood fired larch hot tub which can easily fit 5 people, right next to this is a large out door hot shower and hand basin. Together with the composting loo made out of George’s favourite ‘wiggly tin’ you are self-sufficient in your den in the woods.
The Cabin sleeps five people. As a couple you would use the double bed of the triple sleeper in the bedroom. If you’re travelling as a family the children can have the bedroom and as parents you can use the sofa bed in the main space. It comes with plenty of logs and kindling to start you off, and more are available to buy at reception. Lighting is Victorian oil lamps, and solar lights; as the space is light and airy and not vast, it is easily lit, however you will need a torch for night time loo trips and trips to the car park. You park your car in the car park and then ferry your gear using our fleet of trolleys and wheel barrows the short (200m) walk to the clearing.
All kitchen equipment is provided as is bedding and linen, you will just need to bring bath towels.
