Gypsy caravan with a Victorian cast iron water bowser converted into a gorgeous wood fired hot tub you’ll never want to leave!

The Owner Says

Along with the hot tub there is an outside loo, The Wagon is situated in our ancient woods a little way up from the Cabin and Safari Tent, around a 5 minute walk from the carpark.  She sleeps two. There is a firepit with grill and dutch oven and seating outside and a hammock slung between two hornbeam trees.

Inside there is U-shaped seating that converts down to a full size double bed, kitchen area with a 1 ring cast iron gas hob,  cold running water, and cosy wood burner.   It is fully equipped with all pots, pans, crockery and cutlery for 2 people. It is totally off grid so lit with solar lights and oil lamps. A cool box is provided plus all bedding and linen.

Suitable For

Tents, dogs (on leads) – yes. Caravans, campervans, groups – no. This is a family campsite: no electronic noise or raucous explosions after the North Star appears.

Nearby

The Cuckoo Trail, a spit from the site, is a great option for cycling or walks –weaving through woods, fields, and the best of Sussex countryside. Normans Bay, named after the Normans who landed here a thousand years ago, is just 20 minutes away. Pop into The Observatory Science Centre (01323 832731); on selected evenings you can look through their telescopes at events in the night sky.

Food & Drink

Stock up on steaks before heading to camp – they’re hung for 21 days so are bursting with flavour. Beyond the wood in Chiddingly, the Six Bells (01825 872227) comes highly recommended (voted Best Bargain Pub in Britain) for its tasty fare and shabby-chic decor.
