The Owner Says

Lovely cosy Yurt in a secluded position.  With its own covered camp kitchen and camp fire. Our yurt was made by Yurts for life here in Devon and has a new canvas this season. Complete with a double bed (linen supplied) and a log burner, to keep you warm and snug. The showers and toilets are close by, and you have your own fire pit with one bag of logs included. Additional Logs are for sale on site. We can also supply a breakfast basket full of local produce for you to cook in the morning.

About Ruby Country Camping

Suitable For

Ruby Country Camping is ideally suited to couples or families who want to get away from busy lives and relax, and don't like to have another tent right next to them. There is no electricity or WiFi on site, but there is charging facilities for phones, and a 4G signal if you are desperate! People who love the outdoors, cooking over open fires, toasting marshmallows and enjoying the nights sky love it here. We are just off a main road so there is some road noise at busy times. But that does make us perfectly situated for ease of access and exploring Devon.

Nearby

The Devon countryside is just gorgeous, and Dartmoor is stunning. The beaches which are about 35 to 45 minutes away are amazing for surfing, swimming and exploring. Our area is rural farming rather than a tourist one, so you get to see the real Devon, and Devon obviously does cream teas the correct way, cream first of course!

Food & Drink

You're spoilt for choice here. In Hatherleigh, you have the George Hotel which is more food orientated and the Tally Ho which is a more traditional pub with its own brewery. In the next village, Sheepwash, is The Half Moon which is a lovely country pub. These three are all in easy cycling distance 2 to 3 miles. That is just the start! There is a lovely cafe in Hatherleigh, One Market Street Café, which cooks delicious breakfasts and has marvellous cakes, and we are only 10 minutes drive from a farm shop and  cafe called Madewell, where you can buy their veg and eggs etc, it also has a small animal farm with miniature Shetland ponies and pigs and chickens, and a lovely play area for smaller children. Hatherleigh also has a skate park and is home to the War Horse Valley Country Farm. Finally, there is a butchers, 2 minutes drive away, for all your BBQ needs.
