Hole Station

Camping at Hole Station is unique, pitches are sited in private clearings in our wild woodland - about as far from camping in a field as you can get. The peace, quiet and privacy you enjoy here are an eye opener for those who have previously camped on sites that are 'open plan'. The wood is full of wildlife and there is always something to watch from your camp chair in the afternoon.

Each of our pitches are separate from each other, no tripping over next doors guylines here, or experiencing the joys of kids playing football at 6am. You won't suffer the delights of car doors slamming or headlights providing illumination in your tent.

Sat by your campfire, gazing up at the stars without light pollution, you could be forgiven for thinking you have the place all to yourselves.

The facilities block has covered washing up stations with hot water, a freezer for cool blocks, electric showers with large cubicles (and lots of hooks),  a mobile phone charging station, eco loos, wash basins, mirrors and hairdryer plug in – everything is free to use.

Accommodation

We offer two styles of camping:

BYO -  You bring all your own gear. Every BYO pitch has its own tarp kitchen shelter, which is perfect for keeping dry on those less than ideal days. No two pitches are the same, and it's self selection so on arrival the first thing you do is have a wander and choose from those available. We charge a base rate per pitch which means you can put up awnings, hammocks, multiple tents etc; to make the space feel like your own while you're here. Maximum tent size 7 x 5 metres, please let us know if your tent exceeds 5m, and we will reserve a larger pitch for you. Eighteen available pitches.

Rent-A-Tent - All you need to bring is your bedding, torches, matches and a toiletry kit (and anything else you want to make the space your own). Everything else is provided: with your tent and a fully equipped open fronted wooden kitchen/dining shelter with pots, pans, gas cooking facilities, water and kettle.  Your tent has plenty of stand up headroom with a wood floor, two bedrooms and airbeds included. Three available pitches.

Camper Van - We have a specific camper van pitch with a hardcore base and a permanent wooden picnic shelter. Perfect for turning up and settling in. One available pitch.

The Bluebell - Don't fancy camping? Stay in our 1920's Norwegian railway carriage. With a wood burning stove and fully equipped kitchen you have everything you need to relax and make yourself cosy. As a Norwegian carriage, it has a broad gauge so loads of space, much wider than a standard British carriage. There are two bedrooms, both with ensuite facilities, a sitting room, kitchen diner and an entire private platform overlooking a wild flower meadow, the Bluebell accommodates up to 4 people. There is only one Bluebell.

Camper vans, roof tents and trailer tents up to 6m (19.7 ft) are welcome. Your pitch includes a ready erected shelter, great for cooking in if you want to avoid cooking smells in your van. This pitch is not suitable for tent camping, it's a gravelled hardstanding.

Our pre-erected Rent-A-Tent service was originally designed as an easy introduction to camping for first timers, but it's just as popular with seasoned campers, particularly with returnees who first came here as BYO campers! Maximum 4 persons per pitch.

Booking Policy

Adults Only - no under 18's.

  • Maximum size tent we can accept is 7m length, 5m width
  • Check in time: 1pm to 6pm
  • Check out time for BYO camping: 12 noon
  • Check out time for Rent-A-Tent: 11am
  • 10pm Quiet Time
  • No Music at any time - that means radios and musical instruments.
  • No stag or hen parties - we are NOT a party site!
  • No groups of more than 6 guests - A group of 4 or more will require a second pitch.
  • Dogs must be kept on a short lead and under your control at all times.

Cancellation Policy

  • Cancellation - a full refund minus a 10% admin fee is made when more than 30 days notice of cancellation is given.
  • For cancellations made within 30 days or less of arrival date there is no refund.
  • We suggest you take out the necessary holiday insurance to cover any losses.
