You can walk straight from your pitch to some of the most beautiful footpaths and bridleways in the county, including The Shropshire Way and Jack Mytton Way. Known for walking, horseriding and mountain-biking, the surrounding countryside does not disappoint. Situated on the edge of the market town of Church Stretton, which is worth a visit and a good place to pick up supplies, is the Carding Mill Valley visitor centre where there’s parking, information and a tea room. You can also swim in the Carding Mill Reservoir. The market town of Ludlow, with its medieval streets, ruined castle and riverbank, is 15 miles south and a popular place to visit. En route you pass the little town of Craven Arms where you might want to stop off to visit the Shropshire Hills Discovery Centre (01588 676060) and Stokesay Castle (0370 333 1181), one of the best-preserved fortified medieval manor houses in the UK. Food & Drink
At the front of our site is our Pub, The Powis Arms, our seasonal menus are ever-changing with what we can source from our butcher, fishmonger and local farmers. We believe in delivering core pub classics on our menu with the addition of interesting but simple dishes celebrating classic British food. Everything is freshly prepared daily by Matthew and his team and we try to cater for all dietary requirements, including a Children’s Menu.
Reservations are taken and highly recommended, especially on Sundays for our Traditional Shropshire Sunday Lunch.
Breakfast can be pre-booked for those staying at Walcot Hall or on our campsite, to the rear of the pub.
