5m Bell Tent 'Ladybird' (4 at Cwmffrwd Farm)
UK Wales South Wales Monmouthshire Abergavenny Cwmffrwd Farm
The Owner Says
Our bell tents are in the top mountain meadow with acres of space and beautiful views. There is about 50m between each one. Although entirely off-grid, these homely abodes are kitted out with comfort in mind. They have a double futon style bed with bedding and linen provided (fitted sheet, 15 tog duvet, two pillows) cushions, rugs and fairylights. In the basket you'll also find a pair of adult size inflatable mattresses (bedding not provided for these), pump and four hot water bottles. Although there is only one double futon bed with two optional additional air mattresses provided, the bell tent will sleep (cosily) an additional two children (so up to six people in total) but extra inflatable beds/roll mats and bedding must be brought by guests. Up to two dogs are allowed in the bell tents. (Please contact us if you have more and would like to stay. ) Outside, you have your own simple steel wheel fire pit (remember to bring a griddle if you want to cook on it) and we sell boxes of wood, kindling and firelighters for £10 cash :) In the same wildflower meadow and just a short stroll across the grass, you'll find our little sheltered 'Observation Station' for pulling up a chair and watching the wildlife, and the 'Lovely Looease' compost toilet. We ask all guests to park at the entrance to the campsite. There are wheelbarrows available for you to move your kit up to the tents, and if the 4x4 is home then we will certainly help you :) Check in is between 4pm and dusk and check out is 10am. Check out Pridie's event page to find out what's on at the campsite this year - www.thewildofthewords.co.uk/events2025
We also have a beautiful wood-fired sauna on the farm that can be booked for use during your stay. Talk to Pridie and James about this if you would like to find out more:)
Important info:
- We have a single flushable toilet, electric shower, two hot water washing up sinks, kettle and mobile charging point in 'The Byre' at the farm. Please feel free to bring portable toilets (we have a chemical toilet disposal point) but please only use green eco fluid or no fluid at all (strictly not blue fluid.) There are also three composting toilets on site - one in the camping meadow and one in the 5m bell tent field.
- We kindly ask all guests to take their rubbish home with them to recycle. There is a dog poo bin in the carpark.
- Please cook on barbecues that are at least 12 inches off the ground (feel free to move the fire bowl temporarily and place your gas stoves / BBQs onto the fire bricks). Please don't burn holes in the fields. No disposable BBQs on the grass please.
- Fire bundles are available at £10 a bag and include kindling, logs and firelighters.
Rules:
- We don’t believe in having too many rules, but want everyone to have a fun and enjoyable stay so:
- Please keep noise to a sensible level, particularly after 8pm. We welcome acoustic music around the campfire, but no stereos, amps or car radios please. We ask for no loud noise after 11pm. Loud talking/laughing into the late hours can drive your neighbours bonkers. Please be aware of others that may be trying to sleep.
- Please DO NOT cook inside, or take flame lanterns into, the bell tents (or any tent for that matter!)
- Dogs must stay on leads or long lines.
- No drones.

About Cwmffrwd Farm
Suitable For
Cwmffrwd Farm is the perfect rural retreat for those seeking a wilder kind of camping experience - it's all about nature and space! Tent, campervan and bell tent pitches are spaciously spread out across the meadows, with an average of seven pitches in each four acre field. Each booking has their own pitch in the wildflower meadows with a maximum of one tent / one van / one bell tent and six people per pitch. Tent pitches (7m x 5m) are located along the top of the camping fields boasting an epic view down the valley, and van pitches (VW/transit size) are located along the bottom of the meadows gazing up at the surrounding mountains. The bell tents are snuggled away in their own mountain meadow. Parking for all pitches is just as you enter the first field and there are plenty of wheelbarrows available for you to get your kit to your pitch. We can also help if the 4x4 is home. Dogs are very welcome, but we ask you to keep them on a lead or a tether at all times and be extra vigilant when it comes to clearing up after them. A bin is provided for this.Nearby
Guests can walk out onto it straight onto the Waun Fach mountain range from the farm. It’s 12 minutes drive to picturesque Crickhowell, and 25 minutes to celebrated book town Hay-on-Wye and bustling market town Brecon. It’s best to stock up on food before you arrive, or shop at local supermarkets in Brecon, Abergavenny or the high street in Crickhowell.
