Campervan pitch (VW/Transit size)

The Owner Says

Our lower meadow pitches are for small campervans (VW/Transit/vehicles less then 5m long), roof tents or tent campers who would like to drive to their pitch. These grass pitches are all located along the bottom of the wildflower meadows and are reached via their own little  grass track. Pitches are spaced apart from each other, and all have lovely views of the open access mountain above. Pitches are selected by guests on arrival. All are fairly flat along the hedgerow but we recommend bringing levellers if you want to be perfectly level. We cannot reserve pitches during the summer, but if you are coming with friends it's only ever a gorgeous walk across the meadows to visit them:) Check in is from 2pm and check out is before midday. Every pitch has a steel wheel fire pit on fire bricks.
Check out Pridie's event page to find out what's on at the campsite this year - www.thewildofthewords.co.uk/events2025
We also have a beautiful wood-fired sauna on the farm that can be booked for use during your stay. Talk to Pridie and James about this if you would like to find out more:)
Important info:
  • Fire bundles are available at £10 a bag and include kindling, logs and firelighters.
  • We kindly ask all guests to take their rubbish home with them to recycle. A dog poo bin is provided.
  • There are three composting loos in the meadow - 'Timmy Ty-bach', 'Wonky Bob' and the 'Lovely Looeaze', as well as a flushing toilet (as yet nameless) with hot shower and a washing up area just a short walk away in 'The Byre', in the farmyard. In here, you'll also find a kettle, mobile charging point and a freezer in which you are welcome to store ice packs. The water is drinkable in the washroom and by The Byre you'll also find a drinking water tap and hose for bigger jerry cans.
  • The Brecon Beacons are a Dark Sky Reserve so a clear starry sky is really something special. The campsite is not lit at night and we advise you to bring torches and take care when it is dark.
  • Barbecues must be at least 12 inches off the ground (feel free to move the fire bowl temporarily and place your stoves / BBQs onto the fire bricks). No disposable BBQs on the grass.
  • Please feel free to bring portable toilets as we have a chemical toilet disposal point, but please only use green eco fluid or no fluid at all (strictly not blue fluid.)
  • Pitches are available from 2pm on the day of arrival and up to 12 noon on the day of departure. Please ask if you would like to arrive earlier or stay longer on your day of departure. This is not normally an issue outside of peak times.
  • Please keep dogs on leads and clean up after them.
  • Please keep noise to a sensible level, particularly after 8pm.
  • We welcome acoustic music around the campfire, but no stereos, amps or car radios please.
  • We ask for no loud noise after 11pm. Loud talking/laughing into the late hours can drive your neighbours bonkers. Please be aware of others that may be trying to sleep.

About Cwmffrwd Farm

Suitable For

Cwmffrwd Farm is the perfect rural retreat for those seeking a wilder kind of camping experience - it's all about nature and space! Tent, campervan and bell tent pitches are spaciously spread out across the meadows, with an average of seven pitches in each four acre field. Each booking has their own pitch in the wildflower meadows with a maximum of one tent / one van / one bell tent and six people per pitch. Tent pitches (7m x 5m) are located along the top of the camping fields boasting an epic view down the valley, and van pitches (VW/transit size) are located along the bottom of the meadows gazing up at the surrounding mountains. The bell tents are snuggled away in their own mountain meadow.  Parking for all pitches is just as you enter the first field and there are plenty of wheelbarrows available for you to get your kit to your pitch. We can also help if the 4x4 is home. Dogs are very welcome, but we ask you to keep them on a lead or a tether at all times and be extra vigilant when it comes to clearing up after them. A bin is provided for this.
