Our nine Pioneer Camps have been designed to discover your frontier spirits with family and friends. Each camp includes a pioneer lodge with two bedrooms and an outdoor camp kitchen and camp fire area.

This Pioneer Camp has been designed to help you discover your frontier spirits with family and friends with everything provided for sleeping, cooking and dining in the outdoors.  Each camp includes a pioneer lodge with two bedrooms, a king size and two single beds (linen, duvet and blankets included), plus a living area with a wood burning stove, storage boxes, rugs, cushions and LED lanterns.

Adjacent to your lodge is an outdoor camp kitchen and dining canopy and a camp fire area. The camp kitchen has a two-burner stove, a preparation bench, all your outdoor cooking and eating equipment, and large cool box (with ice bricks provided).  There's also a dining table with benches, all under a large canvas canopy illuminated with a hurricane lamp and solar lights.

The campfire area includes a heavy-duty tripod and Dutch oven, fire pit/BBQ, cooking tools and seating around the campfire. A basket of firewood is included with your booking, and further firewood and charcoal is available to purchase onsite as require

There are nine Pioneer Camps set up in the Pioneer meadow which also has two sets of composting toilets with urinals and two hot showers with sinks, to compliment the main flush toilet and shower block in the courtyard.

The price of the pitch includes four people, one car space, a complimentary basket of wood. Dogs are allowed for a price of £5 per night (max two per pitch). An extra car is £5 per night

EXTRAS TO BRING - We have included everything you'll need for your stay, except your clothes, towels and toiletries and perhaps some marshmallows!

Suitable For

Tents & trailer tents, campervans,  dogs, groups (prior arrangement), gazebos (with a small extra charge) – yes. Caravans, & motorhomes – no. It's a dog friendly site (up to 2 per pitch)  & also we don’t have vehicles in the camping & glamping meadow (unless you book the Friends Power & Park up Pitch), You have to take your stuff with a wheelbarrow .

Nearby

The campsite sometimes lays on special events, like guided wildlife walks, through the adjoining 325-acre Ffynone Wood and maps are also provided on your arrival with local routes, including Soo’s Secret Waterfall Trail. The site is directly traversed by a bridleway that leads immediately into the woods. Further afield, nearby attractions include fantastic Cardigan Castle (01239 615131), opened to the public in April 2015 after a massive 12 year restoration project, and The Welsh Wildlife Centre, in the Teifi Marsh Nature Reserve. There's also very easy access to the Pembrokeshire Coast Path, the Preseli Hills and the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park with a particular highlight being the Teifi gorge, fabulous for kayaking and canoeing.

Food & Drink

Top of the Woods offers guests hot farmhouse breakfasts at weekends and hosted dinners evenings, all prepared with high quality local produce.  They also host pop up restaurants such as wood fired pizzas during school holidays. A mobile fishmonger also visits twice weekly, selling the freshest Welsh seafood. Pub-wise there are two locals. The Nags Head (01239 841200) at Abercych offers seasonal menus, all cooked in house by their chef using the best Welsh ingredients. The Fynnone Arms in Newchapel (01239 841800) does excellent Sunday lunches and specialises in dairy free, gluten free, vegetarian and vegan menu options.
