Fully off-grid, available all year-round and with 4 comfortable berths, this is your chance to escape it all without compromising on comfort, location or eco credentials.
The Vacationist has been carefully designed to balance luxury, freedom and environmental impact. We wanted to help people reduce the carbon impact of their holiday by offering them a luxurious, comfortable and relaxing alternative in the UK. This is as close to net zero travel as you can get!
We also wanted our guests to experience the joy of a outdoors, off-grid escape, where the kids can run around fields and climb trees and the adults can sit around the fire drinking wine and watching the stars. This is what memories are made of.
The cabin is full of eco-technology and features solar panels, solar-powered infrared underfloor heating, a clean-burning log stove, double-glazed windows, water saving technology and sheep's wool insulation. We've repurposed where we can and also worked with partners chosen for their dedication to sustainable design - you will marvel at the story of our sofas and our painstakingly-assembled (with the help of our local school) ‘coloured-pencil’ epoxy kitchen counter. And your kids will love the hidden bookcase room - it was designed by our kids for your kids, so we're confident it will go down well!

Booking Policy
- Guests can arrive any time from 2pm on the day of arrival and must check out before 11am on their day of departure.
- Cars are to be left in designated parking area.
- Pets are not allowed on the site.
- Bed linen and towels are provided for all guests noted in booking.
- Logs are provided for the log burner for bookings in low season (1st October - 31st March) only.
- Firewood for the firepit is chargeable and if not bought in advance, it will be deducted from your deposit.
- We ask you to respect our neighbours and refrain from music or excessive noise between 22:00 and 08:00.
- There is a 1.5m drop from our outdoor deck. Children must be monitored.
- The Vacationist is off-grid - we only use USB ports for power. No standard plug points are available.
- We are based on working farmland. Guests must stick to the field and public rights of way.
- Disposable barbecues are not allowed. We provide a grill rack for the firepit.
Cancellation Policy
- Cancellations made more than 8 weeks prior to your arrival date, are subject to you 30% booking deposit paid.
- Cancellations made less than 8 weeks prior to your arrival date will not be refunded.
- Any cancellation must be confirmed in writing by email, by the person who made the booking.
- We suggest you take out the necessary holiday insurance to cover any losses.
If you want to amend your booking dates, please notify us as soon as possible and we will do our best to accommodate your request, subject to the following:
- If you provide notification at 8 weeks or more of your requested change, we will amend your dates, subject to availability.
- If you request a date change within 8 weeks of your arrival date, we are not obliged to accept your request. Changes made will be at Our discretion.
- If an amendment increases the price of your booking, the increased amount will be charged.
