A secluded camp with one shepherd's hut and one pump-up tent, ideal for one or two couples, set in the eaves of stream-side trees on the edge of a rewilded meadow and near the steam railway. The converted pony trailer has a hot shower, porcelain loo and kitchenette for your exclusive use.

The Owner Says

Let the light filter in through the leaves above your hammock. Relax to the surround-sound birdsong as you get dinner going on the grill in your own utility pony trailer complete with shower, kitchenette and loo. Gather round the fire pit at dusk. Watch bats flit and hear owls hoot. Snuggle in the calm of the shepherd's hut or luxuriate on the double bed in the canvas pump up tent.

About Wealderness

Suitable For

We offer couples, and solo souls looking to escape and recharge a secluded space steeped in the restorative power of natural surroundings. The Shepherd's hut pitch is suited to two couples having a luxurious pump-up tent attached.

You'll be staying in a fledgling rewilding project called Ravenswyld - we're part of the Weald to Waves initiative, a 100-mile corridor of habitat from Ashdown Forest to the seashore and the kelp forest beneath the sea. Peace and nature abide at our site. Apart from the bird-song and the odd steam train it's quiet and serene with a only a few well-spaced pitches. You're in nature here - expect uneven ground, insect life and the odd bramble.

We also welcome small groups. We can set up a small group camp in the small meadow and also have facilities for small-scale retreats with a stretch tent that has power, mains water and Starlink  - please contact us directly to enquire about hiring the whole site.
