The Owner Says

Lapwing is a luxuriously appointed Shepherd's Hut best suited for couples looking for an extra level of comfort during their glamping experience. The hut has a spacious firepit/BBQ area and overlooks our fields, with woodland to the back. A wood-fired Hot Tub is available (surcharge applies). The hut has an extremely comfortable king-size bed with views. The kitchenette has an electric hob, microwave/grill oven and fridge. The bathroom is also en-suite with a shower, so no tramping to the loo block in the dark! With double doors opening onto to a beautiful view, your focus will be outside, however indoors there is an electric stove and comfortable seating/dining area. All linen and towels are provided. There is access to a shared laundry facility. No WiFi although roaming signal is very good.

Nearby

- History:

Stonehenge is just around the corner, and a walk around our grounds alone will take you past 5000 year-old earthworks and burial mounds. Just last year a hoard of bronze-age axe-heads was found in one of our fields.

- Walking:

There's brilliant walking trails from the farm, taking you to the farm shop or two local pubs; The Crown and The Malet. In the wider area there are some world-class hikes to be discovered, taking in the famous white-horses of the Ridgeway, Avebury and Wansdyke to the north, or the New-Forest with it's wild ponies to the south.

- Culture:

We are ideally placed for the cities of Bath, Salisbury, Winchester and Oxford and all that they have to offer. Easily accessible by train or car.

- Swimming:

There's local wild swimming spots (although we always strongly recommend the Fallen Willow Sauna and Wild Swimming spot nearby) and also Bournemouth and Studland beaches within easy reach for a day-trip.

- Families:

Moors Valley Country Park, Mottisfont, Poultons Park (Peppa Pig World!) and Winchester Science Museum are all superb family days out and within easy reach.

- Country Sports:

Our chalk-stream area is a world-famous fishing destination, and we offer an excellent base for fly-fishing enthusiasts with space to store rods. We also have two polo clubs within a 15 minute drive, offering lessons and a unique experience for those that have never sat on a horse, to experienced riders.

Food & Drink

- The Malet Arms is a beautiful 40 minute walk away through the Estate (or 5 minute drive). It's a traditional Pub with a roaring fire, kitchen garden and locally sourced menu, and we always recommend it. It is also dog and family friendly.

- Bluestone Vineyard and Black Chalk both have award winning wines and tasting rooms.

- Stockbridge is a great option for delis, coffee and light lunches; we like Meadow and Thyme & Tides.

We send a guidebook to all guests ahead of their stay with a more extensive list of food options.
