Gravel Farm

I booked this cottage as it was the nearest accommodation to the Cambridge Flower School, where I was booked on a course. I stayed for a week and really enjoyed the peace and quiet. The cottage was spotlessly clean, and had everything you could possibly need for a week away from home. Davina was really helpful in letting me know, how close the flower school was and how easy it was to get there. I really enjoyed my week away.

We enjoyed a short break at delightful Elm Cottage. Davina was brilliant throughout from booking to forwarding all the information regarding directions and check in. We settled in immediately, had unpacked in no time and were on a walk from the cottage door within minutes, bumping into Davina's mum who was walking a sweet Jack Russell Terrier. Elm Cottage was very homely, immaculately clean, and well designed with great attention to detail. It is also close to all our favourite places, including Wicken Fen. We enjoyed sitting in the sweet garden at the back of the cottage and eating breakfast outside in the mornings. A flock of geese regularly flew over the cottage, which was a joy to behold. Thank you Davina!

Elm cottage is well furnished with a very well equipped kitchen. Quiet location with easy access to Wicken Fen, Ely and the surrounding area.

Oak Cottage was attractively laid out, very clean, and with comfortable beds & furniture. The location was ideal with peaceful surroundings & alongside the river. Our highlight was the use of the canoe which was kindly made available for us.

We stayed for the weekend in Elm cottage which was very well laid out, nicely furnished and spotlessly clean. Kitchen was well equipped with plenty of crockery and pans for cooking. Lovely quiet location with lots of wildlife around. Plenty of places to visit within a short drive including Wicken Fen and Ely. We were very comfortable and would loved to have stayed longer. Will definitely try to make a return visit.

Willow Cottage was perfect for our family of all ages. 16 months to 70+ years old were captured by the whole experience. Space and comfort were plentiful and secure for the 2 dogs. The location and nearby towns & villages was excellent and we all enjoyed Ely in particular. Canoeing (provided) and paddle boarding (our own) was great fun on the river, a 30 second walk away. An owl was seen above the garden fence on a few occasions, hunting along the river bank. Good luck with your stay …… and I hope you enjoy the weather we were fortunate to enjoy while there.

We lived Oak Cottage and will definitely return. Ours was a very short stay this time to visit family but the whole experience from booking to saying goodbye was extremely good. Highly recommended!

Ideally situated to appreciate what the area has to offer. We were there to visit wicken fen and we also enjoyed visiting various national trust properties too. Ely cathedral is a must which is also dog friendly The Lamb in Ely serves good food and again is dog friendly Well worth a stay at Gravel Farm

Elm cottage was a well equipped, well thought out, welcoming space for my husband, myself and 2 dogs. It was set in lovely grounds with walks to the river and reservoir. Please wear long trousers if walking along the river, as the path is overgrown. The private garden was great to let the dogs out but it would have been nicer with a view to sit out there in the evening.

Family of 4 and 2 dogs staying at oak cottage. Location is great, close to Ely (and supermarket there) and along the road from Wicken Fen (beautiful landscape and wonderful wildlife). Walks straight from the cottage along the river with great bird varieties to spot too. So many good walks close by. The cottage itself is very comfortable, very fresh and clean and well thought out. Davina was really helpful and also understanding about a minor mishap we had, which I (my mishap) really appreciated! Many thanks.

Oak Cottage suited my parents and I plus our two dogs perfectly; Davina was incredibly helpful both prior to and during our stay. The location provided us with good access to Cambridge without being in the hum-drum of a city. The cottage was peaceful, bright, spacious and well equipped with all that we needed; it is always helpful to have a washing machine and dishwasher. The fact we could walk the dogs on-site was fantastic and a loop around the reservoir was great. Shower was great! Wouldn't hesitate to recommend to anyone wanting a pleasant stay with good access to Cambridge and Ely.

Elm Cottage was perfect for me, it was extremely well arranged, beautifully clean and comfortable. There is a lovely feeling of space and gentle warmth in this cottage and I greatly appreciated the secure garden so I could let my dog out night and morning in private. We loved the river walks in the mornings, you can literally walk for miles along the river. I was staying to help my son decorate their new cottage in Wicken, he stays I can stay with them once they have finished but I keep saying I would be quite happy to return to Elm Cottage.

Chestnut Cottage was perfect for our needs. It was spotlessly clean and fully equipped with everything we needed. The bed and bedding were super comfy and we loved the views across the fields. Lovely eclectic artwork and comfy furniture. Our dog Hugo enjoyed the lovely walks. We had to make several changes to our booking due to accidents and illness and Davina could not have been more kind or accommodating. Thankyou Davina for going ‘above and beyond’ xx We will definitely return and highly recommend this beautiful accommodation. Love the eco credentials too.

Willow Cottage was the perfect place to celebrate my 40th Birthday! From my first interaction with Davina, it was clear that she was invested in making sure that Gravel Farm would help make my celebration unforgettable! As a party of 14, including four energetic young boys, I wanted to make sure that the accommodation catered for everyone. It did that and more! Willow Cottage is spacious, beautifully decorated and equipped with everything you need. We took advantage of all the property had to offer during our week's stay, including the hot tub, BBQ, games room, footgolf course, log burner and cinema room! We also soaked up Davina's fantastic knowledge of the local area, ordering our meat from a local craft butcher and visiting a local pub! I should also give a special mention to Ellie, who made herself available to babysit and kindly dropped by on a couple of occasions to make sure we had everything we needed. I have already recommended Willow Cottage to friends and could well imagine returning in the future!

We stayed in Willlow, Chestnut and Oak cottages allowing a large family to get together for the weekend. The entire experience was flawless and communication from Davina was excellent. She was available if we needed her but she gave us privacy to enjoy our weekend at the same time, which we appreciate in a host. The cottages were very clean and modern with all the amenities you need for a comfortable stay. The beds are all super comfy and we were provided with a shower chair for a family member who has mobility issues. The use of the games room and footgolf kept everyone entertained as well as games within the cottages. We hired the hot tub but didn’t really need to use it as we had lots of things to do around the area and the weather was great for us. The garden in willow is huge and was great for the dogs. The smaller cottages were perfect for those who wanted some privacy and were also modern, clean and had great garden space too. Would definitely recommend!

I would like to record our appreciation for a great family weekend. We have gathered elsewhere in the past and always have a good time together. However, we all agreed that our experience at Gravel Farm was the best ever. The cottage mix suited us very well – Willow big enough to accommodate us all for meals and gatherings, with Oak, Elm and Chestnut in support. The cottages are all very well finished and equipped, there were some nice personal touches, and we greatly enjoyed the extras of the Hot Tub, the Games Room and Footgolf. The weather was kind so we were able to spend a lot of time outside, but Willow’s space would still have coped had that not been so. The setting is very peaceful and relaxing.

We stayed in oak cottage for a visit with relatives in Ely. It was a 10 minute drive or a bus ride away on a good road system. The area is very beautiful and the cottage was handy for some scenic walks. The small town of stretham is on the doorstep with a pub, shop, post office and chinese takeaway. The cottage itself is a perfect, spacious size for 3/4. It's decorated in a tasteful and modern open plan way and it's obvious that a lot of thought and love has gone into the design, decor and upkeep. The bed and bed linen were new, fresh and comfortable - could possibly do with a little more wardrobe space, but it was sufficient for our needs for our five day stay. Kitchen area was lovely, spotlessly clean and had everything we needed. we felt at home in the lounge/dining area. We loved the modern metal beams in the high ceiling area. There was ample washing up, tea making, soap etc supplies and the chocolate brownies (home made I think) we're a delicious and thoughtful addition. The shower room was tastefully decorated, with big fluffy towels and a great big open walk in shower, which was handy as one of our party has mobility issues. We were impressed with all the eco friendly aspects such as the solar panels, heat pump and recycling etc, the cottage is obviously owned by caring and conscientious people. The garden was great, with nice seating, and our dog loved running round the artificial grass area - it was all securely fenced off making it private and we felt relaxed that the dog couldn't get out. All in all, we had a fabulous stay and will definitely book again for our next visit to the area. Thank you so much for a lovely stay.

Our first stay but will not be our last at Gravel Farm a good central base for touring the Fen's, next time we will bring the bikes

We really enjoyed the tranquil surroundings of Gravel Farm. Chestnut Cottage is end accommodation and this afforded us some nice views. It was also very comfortable and is an ideal venue if you want to relax and get away from it all for a few days. The decor and furnishings are all top quality and themed beautifully - and we particularly enjoyed using the garden sofa. It was a real treat to sit out on in the evening with a glass of wine. The check-in process was very easy. Thank you!

We booked Willow, Elm and Oak cottages for a family weekend and, whilst the weather wasn’t as kind to us as we’d hoped, the lovely communal space in Willow was big enough for us all to be in the one cottage (14 + 2 kids!). All of the cottages where extremely well equipped, there was nothing we thought “oh wish we had one of those!” Decor was lovely, beds were comfortable. On the one sunny day we got into the garden we managed to have a lovely bbq, was great to see children’s toys inside and outside too. I’d highly recommend a stay here.

We loved the cottages; beautiful and very well equipped. The preheated hot tub was a bonus too. We also made use of the river for SUPs and wild swimming. Just close enough to Cambridge for a night out. Would highly recommend.

We spent a very comfortable couple of nights in Cedar Cottage. Everything worked beautifully and we and our dog thoroughly enjoyed the walks around the farm. The wedding venue was a delight and so far away from any other dwellings that we felt as if we were in the middle of an enchanted area. Many thanks!

We hired out all 4 cottages for the weekend for a hen do. The cottages were immaculate and fully equipped with plenty of room in the main cottage for all of us to socialise. Davina was helpful and quick to get back to me. We also hired the hot tub which was heated ready for us on arrival. Cottages were close enough to Cambridge for an evening out, but far enough to be peaceful and relaxing. Would highly recommend!

We stayed in Chestnut cottage as a base to cycle and walk in this part of Cambridgeshire. The cottage is clean, well-appointed and peaceful with good outside sitting areas. We had marvellous weather and enjoyed the pretty lanes bordered with hawthorn, cow parsley and chestnut trees which were at their prime in May.

Gravel Farm is absolutely excellent. It's easily the best self catering accommodation I've ever stayed in. Great rooms, facilities and overall it was just a great place to stay. I will definitely recommend to friends and family if they need to stay in this part of the country. Thanks again for the great venue and customer service.

We took all 4 cottages for a big family Christmas and they couldn't have worked any better! Each property is amazing and it was great that people had their own space, if needed. We also brought a few dogs and it was great that they were able to stay out of the main house. We have stayed in a lot of large holiday properties and these cottages are by far the best we've ever used. They are so well equipped and everything is of an amazing standard, from the bedding and towels to everything in the kitchen. Having access to multiple ovens made Christmas dinner for 18 a breeze! The team were great in the run up to the booking, patiently answering a lot of questions! We'll definitely be back.

Our second stay in Chestnut Cottage. It was a lovely warm, comfortable and cosy base on a very cold and wet week. We were impressed by the improvements made both inside the cottage and to the garden. Looking forward to our next visit already.

Enjoyed a week in Elm Cottage with our two K9 companions. Cosy cottage, well laid out. Perhaps a little more wardrobe space would have been welcome, but adequate. Very clean and well equipped. Only drawback was the building works going on at the time (hence 4 stars instead of 5) - of course these works would not be a permanent feature in the future! Overall, very enjoyable.

We stayed at Gravel Farm in Oak cottage it was lovely, very comfortable, clean and well equipped. Garden area with seating at the back of the cottage was nice especially when sun was out. Would definitely recommend this accommodation for 4 people. Easy access to Cambridge and Ely for exploring.

We are an extended family of 7 adults, 2 children and 2 babies. This house and enclosed garden catered for us beautifully. The games provided (for both inside and outside and for both adults and children) were fantastic and much appreciated. The spacious living areas worked well and it was great to be able to move from inside to outside with minimal fuss. Also good to be separated from the sleeping quarters. Loved the interior design and the artwork throughout. The many bathroom options were necessary for our big group and were excellent. Many thanks for a magnificent stay.

My disappointment was the path to the walk by the river closed as they were building a barn. We did walk arround the reservoir returning saw no entry/private as we trying to get to the river. As I have land I did not go any further Otherwise a good stayed

We chose Gravel farm because we were attending a wedding nearby. It was a great location for us and we enjoyed walking along the river back to the wedding venue the day after. We also enjoyed a walk in the opposite direction along the river into Ely. Oak cottage was really comfortable, well laid out. It was lovely to have the small garden area to eat breakfast in. The dishwasher broke down and it was replaced quickly and without fuss. The kitchen was a bit short on good cooking utensils and knives. We enjoyed our stay and seeing some wildlife, birds and a hare in the field next door.

We stay for my sisters hen party at willow cottage. The place was immaculate and was well stocked for cooking for 9 of us. It is set in peaceful surroundings and is easy to get to and from Ely and Cambridge. Thanks so much.

We chose this location for our daughters baby shower and we could not have asked for more. The cottages are beautiful with every little touch making it so homely any classy. They have thought of everything. There was nothing missing - highly resourced kitchen, lovely garden area, clean and spacious. We spent the long Jubilee weekend and the weather was great. The girls went on long walks in the evenings and it is very safe. Shops are a 10 mins drive away. Tara was always on hand to advise us from the initial booking to the final day. Highly recommended and we can’t wait to stay there again. Thank you for the treats and for providing us with such a beautiful home from home.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Elm Cottage. We had everything we needed, and a few little extras too! It was very comfortable. The bathroom was very appointed and the shower pressure was fab! The cottage was spotless. It is set in a very quiet location, with lovely walks around for us and the dog. We were left to our own devices, but knew that people were there to help at any time of the day if required. These cottages are in a perfect place to get to Ely, Cambridge, Newmarket and further afield. The coast is only an hour away.

Willow Cottage was everything we wanted from a place to stay, and more. Spotlessly clean, very well appointed, beautifully designed (we loved the lighting!), the most comfortable beds we've ever slept in, and a big enclosed garden for the dogs. The cottage was perfectly situated for access to both Cambridge and Ely and we enjoyed our walks through the farm and along the riverbank - seeing kingfishers each day was the icing on the cake!

Chestnut Cottage is a most attractive bijou cottage with everything needed for our short stay. Very well appointed kitchen and large bathroom. We really liked all the eco principles you follow and were so impressed with the way the cottage was heated. Very enjoyable stay - thank you.

Willow Cottage was perfect for our recent stay. Very bright, clean and fresh. Lots of useful equipment and nice touches including our welcome pack. It was the perfect venue for meeting up with people with lots of space in the open plan lounge and outdoors. The process for opening the access gate worked well. We will definitely return again.

Couldn't have been happier with our choice of family getaway at Willow Cottage! The space was clean, minimal and somehow better than the photos on the website. A great place for relaxation, long walks in the countryside with the dog and family time. Willow Cottage had all the amenities and facilities you could want and some thoughtful welcome gifts on arrival. We really had a wonderful stay and are keen to get back as soon as we can. Looks like we've found our new go-to holiday spot in the UK!

I wanted to get away to somewhere tranquil and found exactly that at Gravel Farm. The cottage was so clean and comfy and welcoming. The little garden with garden furniture and the bbq I rented was great and just enough for me and my dog. Gorgeous cottage big enough for one or two people (and a doggo). Rachel and her husband are so lovey and welcoming and the cream tea I ordered was amazing! Great value for money and I’ll definitely be back. Thank you!

Spotlessly clean with all the facilities you might need and great value for money. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Gravel Farm and would definitely return if visiting the area again.

The space was modern and spotlessly clean, with such thoughtful extras available - dog toys, laundry drying rack and basket, outdoor seating cushions, a BBQ, firewood and much more. There has also been such thought that has gone into making the space as eco friendly as possible, all the way down to how the garbage, food waste and recycling is sorted. The area is well-maintained without being too manicured. We loved making meals in the gorgeous kitchen and lazing around the comfy sofas when we were done. The bedrooms were a great size, with comfy beds and it was great to have two bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms. Thank you so much for a beautiful visit! We can’t wait to book again.

We stayed in Willow Cottage which was emaculate, comfortable and had everything we needed for a perfect stay. I've never slept so soundly on holiday. Cambridge and Ely were close by and we enjoyed visiting but I was also perfectly happy sitting in the garden at Willow cottage watching the sky, the sunset and reading a book. Would thoroughly recommend.

Our stay was amazing, we didn't want to leave, elm cottage was really clean and so comfortable. The lay out of the cottage is spot on and very well decorated, So peaceful and beautiful walks along the river, we will definitely go back and will tell friends about this hidden gem.

We loved our stay at Oak Cottage - it is very comfortable, bright and spacious as well as being very clean and had everything we needed. There are lovely walks right from the door, very tranquil and relaxing by the river. There is also lots to do nearby in a beautiful part of the country. We visited Wicken Fen, hired bikes there and cycled to Anglesey Abbey. We also hired a day boat from Fish and Duck marina and spent a lovely day on the water. We would love to go back.
