Explore the rest of the Blackdown Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (01823 680681) by foot, bike or on horseback. The site has maps and leaflets available explaining the best routes nearby and Jo and Tristan are also a wealth of local knowledge. Equestrians can also space in the neighbouring field to graze their horses. By car the coast is naturally a popular destination with top beaches within a 45 minute drive as well as beautiful Dartmoor National Park(01626 832093), but closer to home towns like Honiton(01404 43716), with its rows of red-brick Regency housing, and Tiverton, home to a fine Georgian church, make for fabulous stopping points to explore. Knightshays Court (01884 254665), Bickleigh Castle (01884 855363) and Killerton (01392 881345) also offer some extra history for those who enjoy exploring houses and gardens of the past.

Food & Drink

Two miles away, the Half Moon Inn (01823 680291) is a good choice and makes for a pleasant walk from the campsite. The pub is located in the centre of Clayhidon Parish and offers a stunning view from their beer garden of the Culm Valley as it opens towards Hemyock. They offer a great selection of local food and are particularly famous for their Sunday lunch and Friday evening fish and chips (served between 5:30 and 7:00 p.m). The Holman Clavel (01823 421070) in Culmhead hosts a great range of locally made ales. Sheppy's Cider Farm is located about 10 minutes away with a great farmshop and restaurant. Local takeaways also deliver direct to the site.

Family Friendly

Recharge your fading batteries by plugging into some woodland relaxation. You'll find a sprinkling of campfire magic plus a handy dose of chilling by a lake will do the trick.
