Ty Nodyn (price above includes 2 guests) (8 at Nantgwynfaen Organic Farm)
UK Wales Mid Wales Ceredigion Coed-y-Bryn Nantgwynfaen Organic Farm
The Owner Says
Ty Nodyn means 'Note House' in Welsh - it has a quirky musical theme. It sleeps up to 4 guests- two guests in the splendid piano bed and two in the crog loft where there is a single bed and a sofa bed. The price quoted includes two guests but you may add up to two further guests as extras. We charge £25 per additional adult or child per stay. Please note, because of the ship’s ladder, we do not permit direct bookings for children under the age of seven. Please contact us if you would like to bring younger children.
Ty Nodyn is open plan with a remarkable and amazing bed made from 2 pianos which is covered in locally made vintage Welsh blankets. The bed is undoubtedly the highlight, perhaps given a little competition by the walls which are clad in beautiful reclaimed wood, sheet music and quirky and frankly weird adverts from the 40s with wonderful cures for terrible ailments! There is a fully equipped kitchen a bathroom (with shower) concealed behind a rustic zinc sliding barn door and a cosy log burner in front of a leather sofa. There is a large smart TV with soundbar and wifi (this place is for people who like their 'sounds'). It has a ships ladder made on the farm from local ash leading up to a crog loft where there is a sofa (sofabed) and vintage single bedstead. There is a well-equipped zinc & stainless kitchen with all the usual appliances (coffee pod machine, milk frother, gas cooker, fridge, kettle, toaster etc) with vintage china, glasses and cutlery. Every item has been very carefully chosen. A retro kitchen cabinet, vintage wardrobe and antique single bed give a feel of the past which is juxtaposed with the ultra-modern industrial style kitchen and polished concrete floor. To enhance its musical theme there is a Rowland mini electric keyboard and a guitar for guests to play. There are no 'neighbours' nearby who would be disturbed by loud singing. Pets and children over 7 years are most welcome.
It is adjacent to the limewashed games barn (with pool table, table tennis and darts) which is shared with our other guests (closed from 10pm). It is near to our farm shop selling local and organic produce such as eggs (from the farm), organic meat, dairy and groceries. We make flower pot loaves of bread to order and can provide breakfast in the farmhouse. We live on site, so we are always on hand to answer questions and give advice on the area. We have other accommodation on the farm (Ty Nodyn is not completely alone!) - just so you are aware, we have 2 rooms in the farmhouse (one has a kitchen), another lovely cottage Ty Mamgu (grandma's house) tucked away on a corner of the farm and 5 remote and spread out camping pitches with one Glamping caravan - The Glamavan. The camping toilets are next to Ty Nodyn which is useful for a second toilet and for washing the dog with the 'mud daddy' and hot water in the outside washing area.
