The 18 foot yurt sleeps upto two adults. There’s a Kingsize double bed with sheets, pillows and a duvet and two armchairs.
Your own fire pit BBQ and outdoor kitchen is provided. This has a gas burner for cooking, a sink and all the pans, cutlery and crockery you might need. A starter pack of wood for the stove and fire pit BBQ, matches, firelighters and kindling is included.
The yurt itself is completely off grid. Candle lamps provide light, and the lack of light pollution makes for exceptional star gazing, though do bring a torch!
Bore Place, where the yurt is located is an environmental charity and organic dairy farm, pioneering renewable energy and reconnection with the natural world and the production of food. As a working farm there are various hazards - ponds, farm machinery etc. If you have children please make sure you supervise them.
There’s your own private composting toilet, just behind the yurt, and toilets and showers at the centre reception across the field (around 300m).
As the yurt is in a meadow, it’s not possible to drive cars right up to it. Cars can be parked in the centre carpark, just near the toilets and showers and your luggage rolled to the yurt on our trolley.
As it's such a lovely place, increasingly people are getting married here. As such if you're staying on a Saturday night there may be a wedding in Bore Place house. It's about 100m away, but otherwise so quiet that sound can travel. If you're coming for tranquility, then message me with your dates and I'll find out if there's a wedding that weekend.
Smoking is allowed outside, but not in the Yurt itself.

Famed as the 'Garden of England', Kent is bursting with bucolic attractions with many in the immediate vicinity of Edenbridge including Emmets Garden (01732 868381), Penshurst Place and Gardens (01892 870307) and Riverhill Himalayan Gardens (01732 459777). For history buffs, Winston Churchill's old countryside retreat Chartwell (01732 868381) makes for a fascinating away-day. The stunning grounds and National Trust-run house are filled with various historic artefacts including the former prime minister's very own paintings. Chiddingstone village itself (also owned by the National Trust) is described as the most perfect surviving example of a one-street Tudor village anywhere in the county. Elsewhere, art-filled Chiddingstone Castle (01892 870347), motte and bailey Tonbridge Castle (01732 770929) and childhood home of Anne Boleyn Hever Castle and Gardens (01732 865224) all offer tours and regular events. Back at the site, Bore Place (01732 463255) itself offers a wealth of walks woodcraft workshops and courses in sustainability, organic agriculture, horticulture, health and wellbeing courses.
Food & Drink
For a decent coffee and outstanding views of Bough Beech Reservoir – Ide Hill Community Shop (01732 750157),about a mile north of the yurt, is the place to go. Groombridge Farm Shop (01892 861753) boasts the finest Kentish produce – be sure to stock up on their famous asparagus. Cafe-wise, the beautiful Kingdom centre set in the Penshurst woods offers delicious healthy whole food dishes and great coffee in a lovely setting. It's open every day 10am – 5pm. There's plenty of nice pubs just a short drive or a good walk away. My favourite is The Greyhound (01892 870275), a small pub in the tiny hamlet of Charcott. The family who run it have their own farm, and much of the meat served is both home grown and home made - and you can really tell. The King Henry VIII (01732 862457) – a charming half-timbered Tudor pile – is nearby (about 10 mins). They serve a fine selection of ales and a surprisingly varied menu of curries and pasta alongside pub grub classics. The Little Brown Jug (01892 870318) in Chiddingstone Causeway is a popular gastropub, a pleasant hour or so's walk away. The Castle in at Chiddingstone (01892 870371) is another handsome watering hole that's equally walkable and does good food. For a refined dining experience, The Wheatsheaf (01732 700100) in Bough Beech offers beautifully presented dishes, with much of the produce coming direct from this modern gastro's very own kitchen garden. You'll find Waitrose in Edenbridge, Sevenoaks and Tonbridge and Chiddingstone Causeway has a well-stocked village shop.
