Ryeford Ponds
Ryeford, Ross-On-Wye, Herefordshire HR9 07873 331 796
A humble welcome to Ryeford Ponds – a small-scale, pop-up glamping site in Herefordshire. Your private, secluded, rural retreat awaits. Two spacious and fully equipped bell tents, a small shepherd hut and two nearly-wild grass camping pitches anticipate your arrival. Addition of a private toilet/shower facility will surely make your stay comfortable. Ryeford Ponds is ready when you are!
The bell tents, hut and pitches are sited amongst meadows, ponds and woodland, in a quiet 6-acre paddock on our family owned farm, just outside the market town of Ross-On-Wye. It’s ‘nearly-wild camping’ with extra comforts! Set in a peaceful, off-grid and exclusively private location with dark skies at night, no crowds and ample grounds to roam freely where you can enjoy long summer days. Here, you are encouraged to put your feet up and embrace the moment. Enjoy the freedom and space, sit by the campfire, relax in a hammock or reconnect with nature. Listen to the buzzards above you, spot the woodpecker, night owls, or perhaps catch a glimpse of Canada geese landing on one of the ponds. If you are eager to explore local offerings, the beautiful Wye Valley and Forest of Dean are just minutes away - you are in rural Herefordshire, with plenty to see and experience! Pick some local activities - cycling, canoeing, paddleboarding, walking, … visit a castle, pop out to explore some unique shops in nearby Ross or immerse yourself in a book, sipping locally roasted coffee in a sunny spot by your tent and let the day go by. You can be as active or as idle as you desire - the choice is yours!
‘Stay @ Ryeford Ponds’ evolved as an add-on project to our usual activity – arable farming. Our core operations include growing potatoes, oil seed rape, barley, wheat and grass seed. We were fortunate enough to find ourselves 'stranded' in this stunning part of the world during the Summer of 2020 and various lockdowns. With limited travel options but huge passion for nature, all things outdoors, good food and great company, an idea of a simple yet comfortable hideout was born and many evenings were spent by the campfire dreaming of 'what it might be like… With its off grid set up, sensible approach to 'creature comforts’, low impact on ecosystems and local habitats ... here it is!
We'd love to share our home patch with you and hope you enjoy your stay. Ed & Aldona
