Cwmffrwd Farm
Cwmffrwd Farm, Pengenffordd, Brecon, Powys, LD3 0ES 07743 815 942
Tucked away amid towering mountains in the heart of the Bannau Brycheiniog Brecon Beacons National Park and nestled within twenty two acres of wildflower meadows, award-winning Cwmffrwd Farm is a back-to-nature paradise for those looking for a special stay in stunning surroundings. Hosts Pridie and James are advocates of outdoor life and positive environmental change, committed to nurturing the natural biodiversity of this precious landscape and encouraging a reconnection with nature through the sharing of land, skills and stories.
The secluded nature of Cwmffrwd Farm sets it aside from more densely populated sites, keeping this beautiful land unspoiled and ensuring it remains a haven for both wildlife and visitors alike. The wildflower meadow camping pitches are at the heart of the farm and to protect them from the damage of compaction there is a no vehicles policy in the fields, other than campervans driving to their pitches along the bottom. Two grass carparks are located at the entrance to both camping meadows, and kit and equipment can be transported using the wheelbarrows provided. Amenities are also kept simple to mimimise impact on the land, with three compost toilets, one washing up area, one flushing toilet and one electric shower. Guests are asked to come prepared with their own bags to take rubbish home to recycle.
There is limited data signal at the farm, so come prepared to disconnect from modern life. Instead, enjoy frolicking in the meadows, rummaging around in the little outdoor library for books and charts to help you identify the resident birds and mini beasts, or paddle in the stream or see if you can spot any creatures in the alder, willow, hazel and hawthorn that thrive across the site!
Along with the seclusion of each individual pitch, the farm feels like it is tucked away too. It’s 12 minutes drive to picturesque Crickhowell, and 25 minutes to celebrated book town Hay-on-Wye and bustling market town Brecon. It’s best to stock up on food before you arrive, or shop at local supermarkets in Brecon, Abergavenny or the high street in Crickhowell.
